Yesterday, this was posted in the comments. A quite characteristic and revealing illustration of the consequences of the many-year war in Syria. Over the 3 years of war the majority of the civilization on Syria territory plunged into the darkness of primitive barbarism, plainly and figuratively speaking. It is revealing that in those places where the Assad regime survived, the bright spots are preserved (the pockets of civilization resists the waves of barbaric invasion), and in those places where "the bloody regime fell", the darkness is effectively complete.
Syria (if it will survive, of course) will need decades to overcome the consequences of this.
